The Classic Alpine Tour (The CAT.) takes place in the Queenstown region in March 2018. The timing of which is planned for the weekend before Easter 2018, which nicely dovetails with the “Warbirds over Wanaka” allowing participants to take in both great events whilst they are in the region. March in the region sees the beginning of Autumn and the magnificent colours Central Otago is renowned for.
This is the first edition of The CAT, which is aimed at attracting cars that fall into a general description of being of European origin (including British) covering the period post WW11 up until 1979 being of limited production or having unique features.
The event is a non competition one base tour starting on the Friday evening in downtown Queenstown with a welcome on the waterfront. Saturday and Sunday will see each day touring throughout the beautiful scenery of the region. Both tours will be approx 150 kms per day, taking in special features and interesting sights and activities.
A special feature of the 3 day weekend will be a display of all the participating cars in and around the waterfront of Queenstown on the Saturday afternoon, for a show that will attract not only locals but international tourists.
If this sounds a bit like you, contact the organisers now for an entry form, video and further details. Entries need to be in by December 8 at the latest, with confirmation shortly thereafter.
